New Shadow Ministerial role for Stephen with Labour’s Foreign Affairs team

Stephen has taken on a new role in Westminster – as a Shadow Foreign Office Minister with responsibility for Africa, South-Asia and International Organisation.

Stephen, who will be working under Labour’s Shadow Foreign Secretary Hilary Benn MP, said: “I am pleased to have been offered this position, and am looking forward to working with the Shadow Foreign Office team.”

His brief will include matters relating to Sub-Saharan Africa, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, the Falklands and the Commonwealth.

He will also be covering NATO and European Security; the UN, international organisations, peacekeeping and the International Criminal Court; Defence; Counter Proliferation; Illegal Wildlife Trade; and Conflict.

Hilary Benn MP said: “I am delighted that Stephen has joined the shadow foreign office team. He has a great wealth of knowledge and experience on International and Development matters and we are all looking forward to working closely with him”.

Stephen added: “Hilary is someone I’ve worked with over many years, including in my previous roles with Oxfam and World Vision. He’s passionate about Britain’s international role and the importance of engaging with countries across the world tackling poverty and promoting human rights.”
